Our Foundations
We are Nationwide Brickwork, a masonry firm founded in County Durham back in 2017. Although the company was formed relatively recently, the Nationwide Brickwork team comprises experienced professionals with a shared commitment to bringing professionalism, forward-thinking and quality to the fore.
After building a strong foundation for the business on these principles, we quickly cemented our reputation locally and began to expand the locations where we work.

Starting his working career as an apprentice bricklayer working predominantly in Scotland from 2006, Ryan quickly developed a hunger to produce quality work in a timely manner. Once fully qualified Ryan returned to the North East to work for some of the regions most well known masonry companies. It was at this time that he decided that he wanted to create a business that was different from those he had previously worked for and so Nationwide Brickwork was founded by Ryan in April 2017.
Growing from strength to strength the business headed by Ryan has grown into what it is today, his focus and drive is at the forefront with customer satisfaction and quality workmanship the main core values above everything else. The passion & professionalism shown by Ryan from an early age is instilled into all the senior management team which is then filtered down through the business and form the solid foundations of Nationwide Brickwork Ltd.
Chris Fox
Commercial Director
After graduating from New College Durham in 2011 with a HND in Civil Engineering, Chris worked on a number of projects throughout the North East for one of the area’s largest construction companies.
Working in construction since 2006, Chris has gained a vast amount of experience in civil engineering, structural waterproofing and then later in subcontractor procurement. He is also experienced in working with budgets and cost plans for plant and transport & facilities management and honed his commercial skills working in subcontractor estimating and project cost management.
Chris first joined Nationwide Brickwork Ltd in 2019 as a Business Development Manager where he progressed through the ranks of the company, becoming Estimating Manager then Commercial Manager and now finds himself in the role of Commercial Director.
As Commercial Director Chris’ role covers all company HR, operative recruitment, business procurement and financial management & accounting.
Now forming part of the senior management team Chris’ desire to grow the business into one of the North East & UK’s most reputable subcontractor masonry companies remains fully at the forefront of his ambitions.
Graham Blackie
Senior Quantity Surveyor
Graham has worked in the construction industry for more than 25 years. He has a vast amount of commercial experience from working in different sectors. His experience extends across a wide range of contractors and clients from defence housing and RAF property services to large engineering companies as well as a range of private and public sector clients.
This diverse portfolio of projects means that Graham has become a distinguished construction professional with an array of transferable skills as well as extensive knowledge and experience. He brings these qualities to each project so that he can offer a unique perspective.
Graham’s specialties include subcontract procurement, value engineering, commercial management, liaising with project management, NEC3, JCT Forms and Advanced Microsoft Office Skills.
John Foster
Project Manager
Working in construction since leaving school, John started working as part of a bricklaying squad and soon progressed and adapted his skills to move into management from an early age. Working on and building some of the North East’s most complex ad interesting masonry projects gave him the ambition to work hard and gain the skills required to manage the type of jobs he had worked on for so many years.
The major projects he has been involved in range from housing sites and care homes to hotels, schools and car parks. Since joining Nationwide Brickwork, John has become a valued member of the team, helping us to complete work on a some of our most prestigious contracts with an exemplary track record of customer satisfaction and programme management.
